This review is for the Martino Publishing/Martino Fine Books reprint of the edition of Smyth's Greek Grammar originally published by Harvard.
You can't do any A Greek grammar book than this edition of Smyth's Greek Grammar, and when it comes to affordability AND quality, you can't get any better than this reprint/5(50). I have to give this little book 5 stars.
It is hard to find modern greek grammar resources that keep it simple and this one does the trick. It boils down the most common structures and forms of modern greek and gives you the essential rules. This is ideal for self-study if you already know some greek. I'm glad I found this one/5(47).
A very good book that is structured after Machen's book, and yet with an updated view of Greek verbs and a better teaching style, is "An Introductory Grammar of New Testament Greek" by Paul L. Kaufman (published by "Ronald N. Haynes Publishers" out of Palm Springs, CA).
Unfortunately, I don't believe this book is being published anymore. The book I love using and it’s perfect for English speakers is this one: Greek, An Essential Grammar. As with any Grammar book, use it wisely.
